President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate former service chiefs and other people connected to the arms purchases scandal in the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. The former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and several others have been fingered in the scam.
Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, said the President took the decision to investigate the former service chiefs based on the report of a Presidential audit committee which indicted the ex-military top brass. Some serving military officers and 21 firms linked to the scandal will also be investigated by the EFCC.
The statement reads: “On the recommendation of the committee established to audit the procurement of arms and equipment in the Armed Forces and Defence sector from 2007 to 2015, President Buhari has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to carry out further investigation into the misconduct established against the following retired and serving officers of the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Army.

“Following the submission of the audit committee’s second interim report, President Buhari has directed the EFCC to investigate the roles of the officers and the companies and their directors in fundamental breaches associated with the procurements by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF)."
The actions of these men are simply mind-boggling and beyond wickedness. I cannot understand why Nigerians are not protesting the injustice meted out to us all by these greedy people. The crazy figures which were looted makes me see red considering ALL we could have done for the general and greater good of ALL Nigerians. The level of looting and corruption that went on shows clearly that they have no conscience nor respect for the average Nigerian's life. How can a person get paid double that amount of a brand new helicopter and then go ahead to buy an old used one and deliver them without rotor blades and upgrade accessories? I mean people died when one of these helicopters crashed for God's sake. How do they even sleep at night, these people?
I am really banking on this administration to bring the culprits to book. If you did not know before, you best know now that President Buhari needs all our support and prayers because dare I say that the guilty ones would go to any length to ensure they do not pay for their wanton crimes.
