Today is a public holiday in Nigeria as we are celebrating workers all around the world. For most sadly, there's little or nothing to celebrate largely because so many people haven't been paid their salaries for several months now.
This is a cruel shame because there are so many crucial things riding on an expected income after one has worked so hard. I worry about where the country is headed economically. I worry about how people are coping without money for food and rent and fees and so on. I believe something needs to be done as quickly as possible before thing fall totally apart.
Nonetheless, they say where there's life, there's hope, right? So I will still wish everyone a happy New Month and happy Workers' Day.
