Today is a remarkable day in Nigeria as President Mohammed Buhari is sworn in as the new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His inaugural speech was full of hope and reassurance that indeed a positive change has come to stay in Nigeria. He has promised to tackle the issue of Boko Haram head-on and has said the Command and Control Center of the Nigerian Army will be moved to Maiduguri in Bornu State until Boko Haram is totally defeated. He's also promised to do his best possible to bring back the missing Chibok girls.
He promised dealing with issues such as security, electricity, unemployment rates, investments for SMEs, etc. One thing that stood out most in his speech was his stance on his independence. He stated clearly that he does not belong to anybody and that nobody belongs to him. I take this to mean he would be calling the shots rather than dancing to any one person's tune at the expense of the greater good of all Nigerians. Way to go Presido Buhari.
Congratulations to all well-meaning Nigerians as we step into the new regime. May all our wishes and hopes for a better Nigeria come true.
