I'm a bundle of randoms and that's what this blog would be about. I also drive an online initiative called #AllHeartsAlways, which is simply a call for everyone to care for the needy around us, always.

Let It Go - Frozen - Alex Boyé (Africanized Tribal Cover)
I'm sure by now, most parents are sick and tired of hearing the songs from the movie, Frozen. Hahahaha, whoever wrote that movie got everything about it so right (
Imagine my delight when I found this Alex Boye's version of Let it go on Youtube. Absolutely fantastic cover and well put together. You have to subscribe to his videos on Youtube because he's awesome like that.

iSpy In Lagos - Health & Safety Left Us Long Ago
Suffice to say health and safety is one other aspect in Nigeria that is left to "fate and God". What you would think of as absurdly abnormal, ordinarily, is accepted as very normal over here.
How else would you explain grown family men, whose jobs involves taking so much risk yet they are sent off to work without adequate tools of safety? The pictures below are what I saw yesterday morning and as crazy as they seem, they aren't that extraordinary only because it is not a one-off incident. It is a dangerous norm. How can you ask people to install stuff so high up without helmets or safety harnesses??? How??????

The Many Lives Of A Cat And Myself
I can still recall the first time I heard the expression "A cat has nine lives"and how I marveled at the exclusive luck cats had to escape death that many times in a life time was just awesome. I remember wishing I could be that lucky too, dodging bullets Matrix style, coming back to life over and over again like the Terminator, never dying like the protagonists in most movies did. I was a young and bright child but I sort of yearned to be a cat and have such opportunities. :)
Over the years, I have realized that perhaps I got that wish or perhaps I am just one blessed young lady with many lives. I cannot begin to count how many times I have missed death and some by whiskers too. I've had some really incredible escapes from accidents, robberies, sicknesses, etc and I am always grateful I am still alive to tell these stories. I got more than nine lives, I got millions of extra lives and I try my best to live each day to the fullest because I believe each day is a gift and giving back is the ultimate gift of all.
Imagine my stunned delight when I came across a piece of news some days ago about a cat who was hit by a car, found dead and buried only to be seen about five days later. Such was the fate of Bart, black and white cat, in Florida. He was buried in a shallow grave but after about 5 days, he returned home minus one eye and with a broken jaw which was quickly fixed by the veterinary doctors at the Tampa Bay Emergency Services. Bart is now expected to make a full recovery from that surgery. His owner believes another cat might have dug him out of the grave. Who knows? Surely this proves that cat do have nine lives, no? :)
Good old Bart :) |

YOUR KIDNEY DESERVES THE BEST
A few days ago, we all received the news of the demise of the
Nigerian actor as a result of same kidney disease. I want to show you how to
avert this menace of kidney disease. Very easy and effective. Don’t
forget that I copied it, so feel free to share, copy and disseminate.
SO HERE ARE THE TOP 6 CAUSE OF KIDNEY DISEASE:
1. Delaying going to a toilet: Keeping your urine in your
bladder for too long is a bad idea. A full bladder can cause bladder damage.
The urine that stays in the bladder multiplies bacteria quickly. Once the urine
refluxes back to the ureter and kidneys, the toxic substances can result in
kidney infections, then urinary tract infections, and then nephritis, and even
uremia. When nature calls – do it as soon as possible.
2. Eating too much salt: You should eat no more than 5.8
grams of salt daily.
3. Eating too much meat: Too much protein in your diet is
harmful for your kidneys. Protein digestion produces ammonia – a toxin that is
very destructive to your kidneys. More meat equals more kidney damage.
4. Drinking too much caffeine: Caffeine is a component of
many sodas and soft drinks. It raises your blood pressure and your kidneys
start suffering. So you should cut down the amount of coke and coffee you drink
daily.
5. Not drinking enough water: Our kidneys should be
hydrated properly to perform their functions well. If we don’t drink enough,
the toxins can start accumulating in the blood, as there isn’t enough fluid to
drain them through the kidneys. Drink more than 10 glasses of water daily.
There is an easy way to check if you are drinking enough water: look at the
colour of your urine; the lighter the colour, the better.
6. Late treatment: Treat all your health problems
properly and have your health checked regularly. Let's help ourselves...God
will protect you and your family from every disease this year! Amen
Share, if you care.
Have a splendidly productive day ahead.

Give-Away - Just Because
Hello blog visitors, thanks for always checking in despite my randomness and rare inconsistency, Hehehehe.
So I've got a give-away today because it is Tuesday. Yeah, I'm random like that. :) I have a voucher for a Make-Up & Gele Tying Session to give out to anyone that wants to look glam for an event or just because. Yup, looking good guarantees feeling good up to a point especially when you take loads of selfies afterwards. ;)
So, let me know (either via comment section or via email *bukiotuyemi@gmail.com*) why I should give it to you and what you intend to do with it.
P.s. - the voucher has to be used before the 3rd of February and it's open to just Lagosians so let's roll. :)
Nigerians And Mediocrity!
It would seem that our perpetual inability to get things right on this side of the world would be our greatest undoing yet.
I've been really miffed to see the high level of praises being heaped on President Goodluck Jonathan because of his provision of six or so trains to service our growing population of 130,000,000,000! While others before him may not have used their brains nor our available resources in providing these six or so trains, I think it is hardly enough reason to immortalize him like his supporters are going on and on. Besides those locomotive sorry-excuse-of-trains are totally unacceptable in this day and age. These people travel to other countries and see the level of advancement their rail transport system have attained yet they dare pacify us with this outdated trains and expect us to be appreciative?
I've only just read that both Nigeria and Mexico applied to the Chinese government for loans to provide trains and other infrastructures for their citizens and their requests were granted. Well the first picture below is what the Mexican government did with their loan while the one below is what the Nigerian government did with theirs. Nigerians ought to wake up and smell the burning coffee.

OMG!! A Foul Stench In Our Justice System?
I just got the piece below and I have been informed that it is from an authentic source.I have written posts here and here about the lengths at which certain people are willing to go, in a bid to win the forthcoming election but this is a revelation that takes the gold medal if it is true. It reveals the depth of rot in our judicial system and it is enough to make anyone want to pack up their stuff and flee this country.
Make of it what you will .....................
Leadership By Example
On my way to work this morning, a female driver broke a traffic law and found herself faced with oncoming vehicles. The only way out for her was for my cabbie to let her through. She honked at first and the cabbie and I both had this oh-no-you-didn't look on our faces. It is so simple really that she should have known better than to drive in such a manner, risking her life and those of others.
She read our facial expressions, rolled down the glass and began a monologue in a pleading tone:
"Oga abeg make I enter. I'm taking my daughter to school and we are late already. Please ehn"!
I took a closer look at her vehicle and noticed she did have a little girl in the back all dresses up for school and leaning into the front of the car, listening to mummy. That view got me even angrier and I had a good mind to lecture her on acting right in front of her child always because children's minds are like soft sponges that soak through with all that happens around them. That little girl just may grow up thinking it is ok to break traffic rules and beg your way out of a disciplinary action. Sadly, I did not get the chance to school this erring mother because we just had to let her in front of us to avoid an accident and more traffic.
It is our responsibilities as adults to live by examples so that the young ones can learn from us and do right by the society we have found ourselves in.

The Secret I Never Knew
Hi everyone, I do apologize for being MIA and going AWOL for the past few days. I've been totally exhausted and unable to do much at all least of all blog coherently. I've been to the hospital on several trips and done loads of tests. I've been pricked and prodded with needles so much that I feel like a pin cushion now.
All in all, the general diagnosis seems to be stress. I'm utterly stressed out and I've been advised to take time out on everything that could be stressing me (Hehehehe, easier said than done really, unless I move to Pluto). I know now, that I've pushed my body beyond imaginable limits and it has kindda stopped me abruptly in my fast tracks in order for me to take thing really easy before I hurt myself. Sigh.
I'm working on being better at resting. I'm not used to it at all and I get bored stiff if I'm doing nothing at all. I'm not even a tv person so chilling out and watching tv isn't even cutting it. I do know I need a luxury vacation far far away from the hustle and bustle of my daily life in Lagos.
Just the other day, I was saying to hubby that if I had been the 14th wife of some Arab Sheik and woke up daily to goat-milk baths, spa treatments and what have you, I wouldn't be this stressed. He had a good laugh at my expense and said my sharp mouth would probably earn me several daily lashes in the Sheik's court and that I'm not the sort of person to live such a life of doing nothing. *Sighs and side eyes him* A girl is allowed to dream, no?
Anyways, what I've come to discover is that a lot of people past the age of thirty take daily supplements to ensure they have the required nutrients to keep them going. Ermmmm, helloooooo why didn't I take this memo seriously when it's been thrown at me in the past? I guess I've been fooling myself that the aging process would probably skip me while dishing it out in others but alas, it's caught up with me at last. I'm not a fan of taking pills at all as I would rather take an injection and get on with my life than take pills but it would seem like I need to do that now to sustain my health in Naija. What can a girl do but succumb?
Thankfully, I feel much better that before so fret not about me. I'm a Survivor. ;)
Have a wonderful week ahead. :)

Relationship Fail, Live On Kiss Cam.
Watch what happens when a couple gets caught on Kiss Cam during a basket ball game in Chicago. The norm is that when your image comes up on the large screen known as Kiss Cam during a game, you are expected to kiss your partner/date. This dude really messed up but I like how the Knight in the shiny Armour swooped in at the end. :)

A Storm In A Teacup Or A National Crisis?
I have been struggling with the best approach to take in writing about the most recent rivalry (not competition) between the two top political parties in Nigera, PDP and APC, because there are so many angles and points of views to the whole saga. I recently wrote here about how dirty the politricking has gotten but since then, newer and less vicious allegations have come up.
The PDP are adamantly claiming that the Presidential aspirant for the APC party, Mohammed Buhari, does not have the required minimum qualification (WAEC) needed to contest for the position of the President of Nigeria. Buhari initially said the Nigerian Military ought to have the results, seeing as he went to join the army straight out of college. I mean this is a man that used to be a former military Head of State in this same country and a man who has contested and lost thrice previously under civilian regime. And to be fair to him, the original certificates being demanded are from 53 years ago!!! Not a lot of people hold on to paperwork for that many years. Why then is his educational qualification being called to question this time around?
* Could it be a desperate move on the part of the PDP, as reality hits about how popular Buhari has become in the light of the alleged incompetence displayed by his opposition, the incumbent president?
* Could this persistent allegation be proof that perhaps, just perhaps, President Goodluck Jonathan is finally ready to fight corruption, because if Buhari does not own a WAEC certificate it would mean he has led a corrupt life by holding positions of power based on a lie this whole time?
* Could this also mean that the credibility of the Nigerian Army and INEC are questionable? Or how else did this fail to be noticed since 1961 until 2015?
* Could this accusation also mean that the PDP are clutching on the thinning straws of desperation and would do anything to ensure their candidate wins?
* Could this mean that the PDP are now like the proverbial bull in a china shop, who if not led out carefully, would throw a mighty tantrum and thus destroy all the chinaware within the shop?
* Could the delay in the reveal of the actual certificate (original or copy) also be a tactic the APC are using to ensure the PDP digs a deeper pit than they have dug for themselves with their numerous gaffes and cunning acts during this campaign?
* Could Buhari be right in stating that this certificate brouhaha is merely a ploy to divert people's attention from the real issues such as lack of security, power supply, etc which the PDP has failed to address nor provide in over a decade in which they have been ruling?
I've only just got word that Buhari has finally laid his hands on a copy of his official WAEC results which now proves that indeed he qualifies to run for presidency. If the PDP are not satisfied with this still, taking the matter of his qualification to run up to the Supreme Court would be a better and more civilized option for all concerned.
If you are not a Nigerian and you are reading this and wondering why on earth any rational human being would prefer a 72-year-old candidate over a 58-year-old incumbent president, well to put it simply, their past records are the key determinants in this choice and it would take another post from entirely to compare and contrast both critically.
I think it is high time for PDP to quit the mudslinging and face the reality of what's before them. The APC also needs to buckle up and do right by all concerned while proving that they have better to offer Nigerians than have been meted out to them by PDP in the past.

When Life Gives Lemons...
Remember this post about life and lemons which I wrote last year? Well I have found the perfect song for it and it was sung by MyArtistOfTheMoment Alex Boye. It's a very happy and encouraging song and I know you will enjoy it. You should also read the post again to perk you up and share it too. ;)

MyArtistOfTheMoment - Roar - Alex Boye Ft. Mom Bloggers United (Africanized Cover)
Whooohoooo, Another brilliant piece from MyArtistOfTheMoment Alex Boye and guess what? This beautiful cover of Katy Perry's Roar is dedicated to Nigerians and a cry to BringBackOurGirls.
The Foul Smell Of Desperation!
The above press advert has to go down as the most distasteful one in the history of political adverts. I am appalled that such an advert was vetted by APCON and was even allowed to be published by Punch Newspaper. I keep wondering about what went through the minds of those who created the ad, how they managed to convince a larger committee that it made sense and why on earth the governor of Ekiti State allowed it to carry his name.
Last week, when I saw the falsified medical documents on Presidential
aspirant Mohammed Buhari (APC), I thought that was the lowest anyone
could go in a bid to achieve a political upper hand against their
opponent. Alas, this morning's advert trumps that. Why would any sane
human being falsify and release medical document claiming Buhari has
prostate cancer? It was baffling, the extent of seeming evil being wished on another man simply because he was an opponent. Since when has competition been a taboo or an opportunity to unleash such blatant venom on another human being? Quite a number of Nigerians would readily believe the report upon seeing it so I was very glad when sane people came out to refute the awful claims that the Presidential aspirant was a dying man.
There are far better ways of being creative and raising strong points that would strike genuine chords in the minds of the voting public than this path of pull-down-technique the PDP are strutting on. For instance, the advert below was brilliantly and tastefully done without antagonizing the opposition. These acts of desperation would only create panic and do more harm than good for all concerned. I am pretty sure we can all live together in unity if only we would respect ourselves and opinions more often while sheathing our swords.
The punch in that advert on the front cover of Punch is not only below the belt, it is the sort of single snow flake that just might set an avalanche off. I hope Fayose, the editor of Punch, the department responsible for vetting in APCON and all those involved would be reprimanded and called to order immediately.
On a lighter note, there's a certain handle on twitter @NotGoodluck which is like a parody account that is so satirical and sarcastic in an unbelievable way. Whoever is behind that account is hilariously loony although he often raises germane points to diffuse certain situations as can be seen below.

Let's Talk About Sex And Trimesters
I know, I know, it's been a while since I last wrote about this topic and I know it generates a great number of readers but the truth is that I've been out of my zone for a bit. I do sincerely apologize because I know for a fact that these sex topics have helped several relationships and marriages as well. I'm gradually getting my writing-groove back, hehehe.
Today's topic would be focusing on sex in the first trimester of pregnancy and I will be talking about it from both the male and female perspective. Having a baby is both a wonderful and weighty decision and it shouldn't be taken lightly at all because it comes with a whole lot of changes that no one has ever told you. Ready? Click below.......
MyArtistOfTheMoment - Alex Boye Tribute (Africanized Style) - They Dont Care About Us
This is an absolutely fantastic cover of Michael Jackson's They Don't Care About Us by MyArtistOfTheMoment, Alex Boye. He is just an amazing and creative chap.
Enjoy.
Medical Books Up For Grabs - #AllHeartsAlways
One of my kind-hearted followers on twitter has decided to be #AllHeartsAlways and give out some essential medical textbooks, which would otherwise cost a fortune, to a medical student(s) who has just gotten admission into university and cannot afford them. They are textbooks for all the preclinical stages and they include anatomy, physiology, histology embryology, etc.
They are bound to come in handy for the lucky person(s) who gets them and there are at least 7 textbooks to give away. Now this give-away is for the needy and not for you who can afford them, so please let those who can't, have the opportunity to get them.
Kindly contact this awesome giver via twitter @laramidae or via email on a.adekanla@yahoo.com and if she's convinced you genuinely need it, congrats to you. :)
I can't overemphasize giving out stuff you don't use or need to those who need them. Your trash is someone else's gold and that's just how life is. So don't let your properties accumulate dust from hoarding when they will be of good use to someone else.
Give. Love. Share. Live. Be AllHeartsAlways.

MyArtistOfTheMoment - Alex Boye
Hi readers, most of you already know how music-mad I am, so I felt the need to start a segment called MyArtistOfTheMoment. This would be about sharing info/songs/videos of musicians which I discover and find enriching. Some of them would have been around for a long time but so long as the songs are right, I will be sharing. Let's say we would have an artist a month and varieties of their songs weekly as I feel the nudge. ;)
Okkkkkkkk, I will be starting off with Alex Boye.
I've only just discovered Alex Boye's music and I am absolutely smitten with his style. To be honest, I was a bit bemused by it at first but now I can't get enough of him. Alex, an actor and a musician, Africanizes covers and makes it into his own. Absolutely brilliant concept and his videos are really intriguing. I like the free-spirited way he sings the songs and dances to the amazing African beats. He also infuses lots of Yoruba language into his songs, awesome stuff.
Alex Boyé was born in England in 1970 to Nigerian parents, and even though he lived in Nigeria briefly and a very young child, he moved back to England and was raised in Tottenham. He is now married with three children and is now a citizen of the United States.
Below is a brief list of what he's been up to over the years. Info culled from wikipedia;
Songs by Boyé have appeared in movie soundtracks including Charly (2002), The Dance, Baptists at Our Barbecue and Church Ball.[12][13] Boyé was featured in a video by The Piano Guys, released in January 2012 as Peponi, a cover of Coldplay's Paradise on YouTube.[14] In early 2013 he did a cover of the Lumineers "Ho Hey" that also generated a large number of YouTube hits.[15]
In early 2013, Boyé signed with Wenrick-Birtcher Entertainment (Eddie Wenrick & Baron R. Birtcher) as his managers.
In March 2013, Boyé opened for a performance by Olivia Newton John at Royal Albert Hall.[3] A Documentary DVD entitled "Front Man" telling Boyé's story has also been produced.[16] In 2013 Boye released a song entitled "I Am Gold".[17]
In early 2014, he, along with the One Voice Children's Choir, created an Africanized Tribal Version of the popular song "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen.[18]
The video immediately went viral, propelling Boyé's combined YouTube
views to over 100 Million. It was selected as YouTube's best pop cover
of 2014.[19]
Boyé had a role in the 2014 film Saints and Soldiers: The Void. He also released a YouTube music video to promote the film.[20] Boyé attained some acclaim for his cover of Taylor Swift's song "Shake it Off" [21] with over 600,000 views, as of January 1, 2015.
In December 2014, Boyé released an original Christmas song and YouTube video entitled Newborn - Wise Men Still Seek Him.[22]

Buki's Bits
Welcome back to another segment of Buki's Bits.
Latecomers Anonymous
Soooooooooooooooooooo, several months later, our president finally decides to visit the survivors of Boko Haram massacres in Maiduguri. Yesterday, President Goodluck Jonathan paid a surprise visit to Borno State, Maiduguri where he met and addressed Men and officers of the 7 Division Nigeria Army at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri. Naturally, people are skeptical about the motive of this visit. Is it out of genuine concern for the wounded soldiers and displaced citizens or is it a part of a re-election publicity stunt? Methinks the answer to the question can be found in the second picture, if one looks closely enough. -_-
When You Have A Good Heart....
Jamal Rutledge was arrested, handcuffed and was being booked into a jail to be charged with criminal mischief and burglary when his arresting officer fell into a seizure, clutching his chest. The teenager immediately knew something was gravely wrong so he started hitting the gate and screaming therefore drawing the attention of other officers. It turned out that Officer Franklin Foulks was having a heart-attack that could have claimed his life had Jamal not acted quickly.
Amazing how he's now gone from criminal to hero. I think once you have a good heart, everything in life falls into place easily for you. He could have stood aloof and chosen not to help, after-all they were going to book him in jail, but he acted right and thus saved a life.
Sigh. Victim Of Circumstance
Being accused falsely is one of the worst things that could happen to anyone, so imagine being a 16-year-old, being wrongly accused of a rape that never happened and spending SIX years in jail over the false accusation! That's what happened to Brian Banks, who used to be a highly-sought after football star with loads of prospects and even a scholarship in the works, and it is the stuff nightmares are made of. He spent six years in prison because his school mate, Wanetta Gibson claimed he raped her after they had a slight misunderstanding and also because his silly lawyer did not advice him properly. Sigh
Wanetta and her family got paid by the State for this rape that never happened and when Brian got out of jail six years later with a foot tag and his name in the sexual offenders list, Wanetta sent him a Facebook request asking that he let bygones be bygones (Sigh, yes you read that right). She was later caught on tape admitting to framing him up and regretting it but not being able to do much about it because herself and her family had taken and spent the money. (I'm just unable to can with this girl please).
Wicked Wanetta |
Thankfully Brian kept fit and in training throughout his stay in jail and now hopes he can still achieve his dream of becoming a footballer, a dream snatched away from him by vicious and vindictive Wanetta. I hope he can get his life together and live his dream.
That Fine Line
According to Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, there's a fine line between having the freedom of speech and insulting the faith of others. Him and I certainly share the same view as I wrote here that we should all live and let live. As much as killing and going on a murderous rampage is NEVER the option to expressing your disapproval of how your religion or God is painted, the opinion of others should be respected as well. One must not goad or provoke others by being insensitive to their views.
According to the Pope:
"One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith. There is a limit. Every religion has its dignity...in freedom of expression there are limits.”Then he goes ahead to say this:
He gestured to a friend and said “If my good friend Dr Gasparri says a curse word against my mother, he can expect a punch. It’s normal. It’s normal. You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others.”
and left me wondering what happened to turning the other cheek!!!
Health Is Wealth
I have therefore decided to just chilllllllllllllllllllll and stress-less. I'm putting this out there because that same Wednesday, a dear friend of mine also collapsed in her office. She was out for hours and had a very scary episode. I'm glad we are both fine now (
attention to your health and do not take it for granted. Only the living and healthy can enjoy the fruits of their labour so therefore labour with sense and ease. Know when to stop and rest properly rather than pushing the body to extremes.
Thanks and do have a nice day ahead. (goes back to snuggle in bed;)
