Some angry Muslims/Arabs have come up with a challenge similar to the Ice Bucket Challenge, tagged #BurnIsisFlagChallenge. It is aimed at the ISIS terrorists and the brutal murders of their captives recently. In my opinion, I think a public outcry by Muslims condemning the horrific actions of these Islamic fanatics is long overdue and should be taken very seriously.
Meanwhile, President Obama is all mouth and plenty action as seen in the recent wipe out of the Islamic State insurgents who were threatening to take over and destroy Iraq's Haditha Dam. The U.S. warplanes launched an aerial assault that has successfully driven the ISIS fighters away from the dam. According to the U.S. military, the air strikes led to the destruction of several of the terrorists' weapons and their fighting positions. Obama has also promised to explain his plans against the Islamic State, to the American people. He has assured Americans that the American troops in partnership with both Kurdish and Iraqi troops will carry out more airstrikes as they systematically "degrade the capabilities of ISIS until they shrink and defeat them". Now, that's a leader. |
I wish I could say our Nigerian leaders are more action than talk, but alas that is not the case. They are not even instilling confidence in us by addressing the nation appropriately rather all we get are statements condemning the actions of these nefarious terrorists while the terrorists are getting stronger and bolder. From the news filtering in about Boko Haram taking over most of Borno state, we are clearly hanging by a thread and I'm surprised at how we are managing to cling on so far.
According to Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, at this junction, God is the one Nigerians need to depend on to save us from the Boko Haram menace. Sigh. Things like this is why I wrote this earlier on because if a man this close to the President thinks this is all the solution we need now, then I don't know what else to say to us.

Nigerians need to come up with tactical suggestions and solutions to the problems we are facing ASAP because even the bible says that "prayer without works is dead". We need to grab the bull by the horns before it gores us all to death.

They would show some back bone
It hurts me physically that they pay more attention to politics than the health, peace n security of the country.
It is very distressing that human lives mean nothing compared to politicking. A low down crying dirty shame.
